African Products

From handcrafted paper bead jewellery to African fabric animals and skilfully woven baskets, we choose quality items we know you’ll love. Through relationship with several communities and artisans in East Africa, we source products directly from the makers themselves and through our trusted overseas partners. Created by women’s groups, individuals and families, they combine traditional skills with innovative new ideas.

Crafts are either created at the artisans individual homes, in small workshops or by working together at their group meeting place where you’ll often find a small group of women sitting and working together on woven mats under the shade of a tree, hand-rolling paper beads or stuffing fabric animals, chatting about life and laughing while watching their children play. We pay agreed upon prices up front, that are fair and allow families to get ahead.

Thai Bowls

Our Thai coconut items come from Donkauy in Rachaburi Province, Thailand. They are handcrafted as part of a co-operative venture called OTOP - standing for ‘One Tambal One product’. Tambal means village, and each village taking part creates one product to sell and generate income for their local people. A group of families in Donkauy, found they had a lot of empty coconut shells left from selling the coconut flesh, so they created handmade drill machines to help them turn the discarded shells into beautiful bowls.
